Challenge
A family-owned agriculture company in the southeastern United States contacted Wesco for a reliable lockout tagout (LOTO) program. The company was facing heavy fines because of a death on-site due to a machine not being properly locked out. The program had to be booked and in progress within a set timeframe to avoid further fines. And even more importantly, the customer wanted to add safety precautions for their employees immediately.
Solution
Wesco collaborated with our extensive supplier and partner network to design and source a complete LOTO program for the client. The Wesco team first performed a LOTO assessment, where we evaluated the current on-site safety protocols at the client’s facility. Next, we invited the client to join our Authorized Services Provider (ASP) program, which helped to lower costs and expedite the program delivery for the client. A Rockwell Automation LOTO program with ScanESC software was implemented within the required timeframe. The modern software solution helped the client digitize their program; operators could access their procedures and documentation anytime, anywhere. Additionally, the Wesco team provided LOTO training and ScanESC software support with iPad access.

Results
By completing the LOTO program, the facility became compliant with OSHA requirements. Our partnership with the client has gone beyond the original project and now includes annual audits and other LOTO and safety additions, as needed. A comprehensive LOTO program protects them from extensive fines as well as oversight from safety organizations, but mostly it protects employees and processes, and it provides peace of mind for the client.
