The Challenge: Limited Operational Efficiencies and Actionable Insights Across HQ Campus

Following a series of renovation projects throughout its Atlanta headquarters campus, a global food and beverage company implemented a smart building strategy to support its enterprise goals and commitment to operational efficiency, and employee comfort and productivity. Part of that initial scope required transforming its facility operations across eight buildings and 2.5 million square feet to integrate disparate building IT and OT systems to increase visibility into plant operation, address outdated, inaccurate data, and support its overall agile, enterprise needs.

A centralized database with robust capabilities were among the project’s primary requirements, along with a cloud-hosted infrastructure that could meet the company’s stringent IT standards, including annual penetration testing and ensuring secure remote access to maintain cybersecurity compliance and mitigate new risks. The solution also needed to support a wide range of systems and third-party vendors across its multi-site campus—from HVAC and lighting to air quality and elevator controls—while remaining flexible enough to evolve with changing operational needs required to support its expanding consumer goods portfolio.

The Solution: Providing Enterprise Scalability and Agility With entroCIM

After a thorough IT approval process, Wesco deployed its entroCIM Central Intelligence Manager platform across eight buildings consisting of thousands of connected devices generating 100,000 data points to meet the food and beverage company’s requirements. The platform was implemented in a single-tenant cloud environment, with strict user permission structures based on roles and access levels, ensuring stakeholders could securely access the system both on and off campus.

Initial entroCIM platform deployment utilized the Vyopta integration to support use cases like tracking meeting room availability and usage analytics. As workplace strategies and needs shifted, entroCIM adapted. It could be reconfigured to shift use case focus from occupancy and people counting to space optimization, as organizations shifted from remote work environments to return-to-office (RTO) strategies. Throughout these unexpected changes—and even as third-party facility management vendors changed and transitioned—entroCIM remained the customer’s constant touch point for managing facility operations.

Beyond its adaptability, the platform’s open architecture enabled seamless integration with a wide range of building systems, and provided the flexibility for the company to maintain consistency across its facilities while tailoring integrations to site-specific needs.
